NT-CPES Nano-Tera lecture series in Cyber-Physical and Embedded Systems program

The main objective of this Nano-Tera Educational Proposal – NT-CPES - is to enhance and extend the newly-designed Cyber-Physical and Embedded Systems Master of Science Program at the Università della Svizzera italiana that was  launched in September 2016. Based on ALaRI 15 year experience gained - in particular, though not exclusively – from our Embedded Systems Design curriculum and within Nano-Tera – sponsored Workshop on Future Embedded Systems Education, the present teaching plan has been revised taking into consideration the evolving characteristics of the Swiss (and, more in general, European) industrial ecosystem. Furthermore, based on extensive consultations with industry we have introduced a Technology Management and Leadership course in a form of seminar series. The course will foster teaching of skills in the Technology Management and Leadership seminar series. Eight seminars, held by recognized experts from Academia and Industry, are foreseen.

The move from embedded systems to cyber-physical systems, emphasizing the direct interaction between ICT technology and the physical world, possibly without the mediation of a human user, stresses the relevance of sensors and actuators as well as the necessity to design innovative –intelligent-algorithms and the seminar series will reinforce the potential for teamwork and technology development envisioning which will empower the students to pursue technological innovation.
