BPWSN: Subscriber Vehicle Identification and Position Detection in On-Street Parking

The aim of the current CTI project was to implement the parking position detection method proposed in a previous CTI feasibility study. In this method position detection of subscriber vehicles is performed by relying on in-vehicle nodes. By correlating the information on wireless communications among on-street and in-vehicle nodes, and the arrival time of the vehicle, the location of the new in-vehicle node – and, therefore, of its related vehicle – is computed. The identity of subscribers is associated with the WSN nodes installed in the vehicles. This solution provides the ability to avoid adding further devices (e.g., RFID readers) to the parking monitoring system, thus reducing its cost.
