| Abstract | The project goal is to design and implement secure embedded system based on open specifications and standards. The boot sequence of the operating system will be modified to accommodate the high level of security required by the TCG and TPM specifications. The basic idea behind them is to leverage on a so called chain of trust in order to verify the the correctness of the software code being executed by the device. At the beginning, the software is verified using the TPM hardware cryptographic primitives, then, if the correctness is verified, the device will operate correctly, releasing the keys otherwise they will be blocked. The chain of trust will be validated on a Linux based Systes. The Linux kernel used for that purpose is installed on an Intel Assabet board where the absence of the TPM chip is supplied by a TPM chip emulator |
